Philippine Cadet on Japanese Soil (Part 6)

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

It was the first time I saw the Philippine flag flying side by side with the Japanese Flag.

It was the day when the Deputy Chief-of-Staff of the AFP went to visit to the National Defense Academy. I was called upon the request of Gen. Adan, to join the welcoming party prepared by the Academy. I had classes then and after a series of requests to the professors and some paperworks, I was allowed to skip my classes at that time.

They arrived in black cars with blue diplomatic plates. We were standing in front of the Main Building (picture above) and welcomed their party. The president of the Academy was on my side when they shook hands.

Of course I was very nervous... but also happy to see a Filipino face. They showed him around, took some pictures, chatted.... the normal thingie.

I had to leave every now and then to attend to some of my duties as a cadet and it was very tiring. Imagine going back and forth to the barracks, the classrooms, to the mess hall (canteen), and the Main Building.

But it was worth it... for I saw my Flag flying side-by-side with the Japanese flag. I was proud to be a Filipino.
